Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to receive a score of a perfect of 10 in the Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi came across Comaneci at age six. She would later be Romania's gymnastics coach. In 1969, she participated at the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She won in 1970. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 for communist countries. Between 1973 and 1974 she won the junior champion in all-round competitions. In 1975 she was awarded 4 gold and 1 silver at her first senior international competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first female to do a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager she began her career in the entertainment field performing as figure skater. Together with her younger twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol entered the entertainment industry in her teens. Her first professional gig was figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment programs Ice Capades. Ice Capades showcased performances of skating on ice performed by actors.
