Cheney has said that he regards his role as an honest and discreet adviser to Bush's administration. Cheney said that when he decided to accept the Republican nomination as vice president Cheney was looking forward to working with a president who works across political lines to reach his objectives and collaborate with opponents with trust and respect. Richard Bruce Cheney is the father of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 within Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, Richard moved his family across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper where his dad was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservancy district.
